-New Faces

2005 has already proved to be a year of change and continued growth for Digby Morgan and this is reflected in the sea of new faces that abound at the company. One or two of the old faces have moved on - looking for fresh challenges in new industries - and we wish them all the best whilst welcoming our latest team members. And watch this space for more new faces as we’re expecting to be adding to these numbers over the next couple of months.

Mark Tulitt, an HR industry guru and an acknowledged figure in the sector, who only very recently joined Digby Morgan, has now been promoted to head of the commerce division.

Mark, who has founded and built several highly successful search and selection consultancies in the past, said: “I have been aware of Digby Morgan as a competitor for more than 15 years and its longevity is impressive at a time when the supply side to this niche market has become so fragmented.

“One of the main draws for me was the quality of the people and that the organisation has been astute enough to recognise that even a niche market such as this has many different sides to it – from the interim to the permanent mid-level and senior markets. In fact, it was probably the first to appreciate that approaches and methodologies to recruiting HR professionals vary and set up different divisions to address these different markets”.

In a further strategic move, Digby Morgan has also appointed former Michael Page International director, Nicola Grimshaw, as a senior consultant in its professional services division.

Nicola has spent the last nine years at Michael Page both in the UK and Australia, latterly as the operating director of Michael Page Finance in London. Prior to that, she spent twelve years as a graduate and, subsequently, senior manager with Arthur Andersen.

Commenting on her appointment, Nicola said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be joining Digby Morgan at what is probably the most exciting period of growth in its history. In particular I’m looking forward to helping the company achieve its ambitions within my area of expertise, the burgeoning professional services sector.”

John Maxted, Digby Morgan’s managing director, is, understandably, delighted with these key appointments. “The fact that we are in a position to tempt industry leaders such as Mark and Nicola to join Digby Morgan is testament to the regard with which we are held by the HR sector. Their joining is only going to serve to accelerate our already impressive growth and consolidate our position as the definitive specialist executive search, selection and human resources consultancy.”

Bill Paris has also recently joined the company as a senior consultant in the expanding commerce division. Bill joins the company from Kramer Westfield where he specialised in IT and telecommunications recruitment.

Prior to this he was an HR Head with ICL. Commerce division head Mark Tulitt says: “We are delighted to have Bill in the team and his combination of experience in HR management and technology executive search makes him an ideal person to lead on the company’s senior HR recruitment in the IT and telecoms sector.”

Another new face, Sam Cato, has joined the city division. Sam has an impressive mix of experience both in search with Phee Farrer Jones and Hanover Matrix International and in in-house recruitment with brand leaders Accenture, BskyB and Linklaters.

“Digby Morgan has a unique position in the City HR market and the prospect of developing my skills in this expanding business area is very stimulating,” she says. Sam will focus on banking and professional services clients.

Barry Byrne, who joined the company as a consultant in October, will be the latest addition to HR Resourcing, the Digby Morgan subsidiary that provides contingent recruitment services for HR appointments from entry to middle level across all sectors.

Barry has an impressive track record of recruitment covering secretarial, administration and finance positions gained with industry leaders and joins from Zarak HR where he has been responsible for leading much of the HR effort for the company.

Latest Graduate Intake Joins the Digby Morgan Training Scheme

Victoria Redman,
a Geography graduate from Leeds University, and Neil Mirtle, an English graduate from Loughborough University, joined Digby Morgan on 1st August.

John Maxted, said: “We receive hundreds of CVs every year for the few positions that we have on our graduate entry and training scheme. Only the very best are selected so congratulations really are due to Victoria and Neil.

“At every level it’s getting increasingly difficult to identify true talent - and this is almost as serious a problem at entry level as it is with long term experienced staff. At this level they may have the academic qualifications required but not the practical experience to draw on or compare. However, we practice what we preach when it comes to selection at this level and utilise the very same competency testing and analysis solutions that we offer clients looking to fill entry-level positions. Our graduate training scheme enables us to grow our own talent and, in the longer term, this ensures that our clients are being looked after by the best consultants in the business."
