Whilst
not totally unaffected by the economic situation
experienced across the UK, Digby Morgan’s
Reading office remains optimistic about the
challenges ahead for 2009. Andy Montgomery,
who runs the Thames Valley office, expands further.
It has undoubtedly been a
challenging time for most companies over the
past few months and for businesses in the Thames
Valley it’s been no different. Although
much of the media talk surrounding the ‘credit
crunch’ has centred on the City and the
financial system, it is sometimes forgotten
about the effects felt elsewhere and, especially
with such a large population of US organisations
based within the Thames Valley, it is easy to
see why the effects have been felt across the
region.
However, and although it flies in the face of
many of the trends felt across the UK, the first
quarter of 2009 has proved to be the most successful
for the Digby Morgan team since it opened for
business in the Thames Valley.
There are many reasons for our successes since
the turn of the year though here at Digby Morgan,
we believe that the biggest factor has been
the continued stability of the team and our
ability to understand our clients’ needs.
In 2009 to date, the success of our senior permanents
market stands out. With retained projects for
clients as diverse as public sector agencies
and large multi-national software companies,
the ultimate focus has been on growing our reputation
both individually and as a business through
delivering on each and every assignment within
the agreed timescales.
It will also be of no surprise that the interims
market is increasing across the region. With
many clients looking for a ‘flexible’
or short term solution this continues to be
a growing trend to reduce business costs. Our
ability to turn round a high proportion of our
interim assignments with suitable candidates
within 48 hours is not only testament to our
understanding of the talent available, but also
the understanding of the needs required by our
valued clients.
