-An
Update from Down Under |

David Owens, the Sydney based managing director of
Digby Morgan’s Australian subsidiary, HR Partners,
reports on an excellent start to the new relationship
following HR Partners’ acquisition by Digby
Morgan in 2007.
I’m delighted to report a great first full
quarter since we officially become a part of the British
HR specialist recruiter, Digby Morgan. We have seen
great client retention as well as a high level of
candidate referral and business has been so good that
we have recruited new staff in each of our three Australian
offices to take our original team of 17 to 22 today.
And we’re certainly not resting on our laurels.
We’re planning further growth and start 2008
with a real opportunity to build on our already strong
market position.
As summer has arrived down here, it’s not just
the weather which is warming up. The market for specialist
and generalist HR professionals is exceptionally strong
with professional services, investment banking and
general commerce sectors leading the way in terms
of demand.
International and regional growth is in much evidence
and HR Partners, alongside our Digby Morgan colleagues
in the UK, is supporting clients not only in Australia
but also across the Asia Pac region with burgeoning
opportunities, in Hong Kong and Singapore, as well
as in the Middle East, with Dubai very much in our
line of sight now.
Excellence in Australian HR
As
ever, HR Partners is extremely proud to once again
be associated with recognising excellence in Australian
HR and were delighted to once again be the official
sponsor of the Best HR Leader Award at Human Resource
Magazine’s glittering annual awards ceremony.
This year, the well deserving winner of the award
was Dr Brett Wright, Group Executive HR, at St George
Bank. One of Australia’s top five banks, St
George Bank also won the Best HR Team Award on the
back of an excellent reputation for attraction and
retention strategy.

I'm
delighted to report that HR Partners has just been
ranked in 4th place in a national survey of recruiters
conducted by Human Capital Magazine. I think this
is a real credit to our teams in Sydney, Melbourne
and Brisbane. We are a relatively small firm with
20+ people so, to be regarded so highly and to compete
so successfully against some of the biggest global
recruitment brands is a real achievement. I believe
that we've done so well because we're a strong brand
with strong values that are grounded in long term
client and candidate relationships and quality service
- and, of course, we're also pretty successful when
it comes to finding top HR talent!
